Celebrate Every Step

This is what restoration looks like...

Today I cleaned my house, and I mean cleaned…I broom swept, swiffer swept, and swiffer mopped every corner, nook and cranny in the whole place for hours....then, dusted, washed the rugs, and more, and I’m still going!

Now, this may not be a big deal for the average person, but it is for me. I realized a few hours in that this is the first time in nearly 10 years I’ve actually had the motivation and the physical energy to clean like this…and it felt good.

What happened 10 years ago? A whirlwind of chaos - disguised as a Christian man - walked into my life, swept me off my feet, and after we married, proceeded to slowly destroy my personhood every day for the next 5 years.

It would be 4.5 years into the marriage before my eyes were opened to see the hidden abuse going on, and then 5 years in when God would miraculously deliver me out of it. But that was just the beginning of the healing journey...

Over the next year, I’d walk through the divorce, more betrayals on every side, financial losses, and endless transitions of moving, including living on the road for 7 months and 8,000 miles until I landed here in GA. I’ve lived here 10 months now, and my body has just started to recover. The process of adjusting to a new home, new town, new church and new friends has been a lot, and just getting to the place of sleeping good and eating well has been a huge feat.

So, to wake up today and not only want to, but be able to really clean the house is massive!! It’s a huge accomplishment, and so I’m celebrating! I’m celebrating God’s restoration process in my body, my mind, and my soul, and His strengthening in me. Hallelujah!

"Awake, awake, put on your strength, O Zion: put on your beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city....Shake yourself from the dust and arise...loose the bonds from your neck, O captive daughter of Zion." Isa. 52:1,2
